ABSTRACT:
Server virtualization refers to the partitioning or emulation of physical servers into multiple virtual environments within each virtual machine (VM). It is, in essence, a means of decoupling software from hardware and allows IT departments to run multiple server environments on a single piece of physical hardware.

In a virtual environment, one OS (operating system) does not consume the entire resources of one x86-based server. Instead, the virtual machine runs as the hardware platform and manages the unique OS and application requirements.

Read this whitepaper to learn how virtualization can help your business get the most out of its server hardware.
